Proov Protocol FAQ
1. What is Proov Protocol?
Proov Protocol is a decentralized network of Oracles for bet verification and settlement
on the Solana blockchain. It allows various front-end gaming applications (often called
casinos) to offer provably fair betting without ever taking custody of user funds.
-
Self-Custody of funds — you control your Solana wallet at all times.
-
Provably Fair — multiple Oracles generate cryptographically secure
randomness and sign each bet outcome.
-
Transparent — every bet, outcome, and settlement is recorded on-chain,
fully auditable by anyone.
-
Scalable — advanced Solana smart contracts efficiently handle bet
settlements.
2. What does “non-custodial” mean?
With Proov Protocol, you retain sole control of your funds at all times. Your balance is
held in a Solana smart contract (Vault) where only your private keys can authorize
withdrawals. No centralized entity can freeze or seize your tokens.
-
No Middleman: Neither Proov Protocol nor any front-end can move your
funds without your explicit on-chain approval.
-
On-Chain Withdrawal: You can initiate a withdrawal directly on the
Solana network, even if the Proov Protocol UI is unavailable.
3. What is a Play Timer, and why is it needed?
A Play Timer is a user-defined time-lock mechanism that enables fast, aggregated bet
settlements while it’s active.
Active Timer:
-
You can place bets instantly (the protocol batches these for on-chain settlement).
-
Withdrawals are typically initiated through Proov Protocol’s interface for faster
processing.
Timer Expired:
-
You can still withdraw directly via the Solana smart contract if the Proov Protocol
interface is inaccessible.
-
This ensures instant gameplay when desired, yet protects your ability to exit at any
time once the timer ends.
4. What is a Play Session?
A Play Session is a temporary key pair derived from (and signed by) your main Solana
wallet. It lets you or someone you trust place bets instantly without repeatedly signing
each transaction with your primary wallet keys.
-
Configurable Constraints: You can set game limits, maximum wagers, or
stop-loss thresholds.
-
Safe Delegation: Even if shared with a friend or on a mobile device,
the session cannot be used to withdraw funds.
5. What does “Provably Fair” mean in Proov Protocol?
Provably Fair means every bet outcome is generated in a way that is cryptographically
verifiable.
-
Cryptographic VRF: Multiple Oracles independently produce random
outputs using a Verifiable Random Function.
-
Publicly Auditable: All raw data—inputs, proofs, and Oracle
signatures—are recorded on-chain or in decentralized storage.
-
Immutable: Once published, no single party can retroactively alter the
results.
6. How does Proov Protocol work (in simple terms)?
-
Deposit: You move funds into a Solana smart contract (Vault) where only
you have withdrawal authority.
-
Create a Play Session: You sign a Play Session key pair for quick bet
placements.
-
Place Bets: The front-end uses your Play Session to request bet
outcomes.
-
Randomness & Verification: Oracles generate VRF outputs, combine
them, and sign the final outcome.
-
Settlement: The protocol aggregates bets and settles them on-chain.
-
Withdraw: You can withdraw your funds either via Proov Protocol or
directly on-chain once your Play Timer expires.
7. Why does Proov Protocol need its own Randomness Oracles?
True provable fairness requires each Oracle to have a financial stake in maintaining
honest randomness.
-
Multi-Oracle Setup: Prevents a single bad actor from influencing
results by requiring multiple signatures.
-
VRF: Each Oracle contributes a VRF-generated seed, making outcome
pre-mining infeasible.
8. Can I run my own Proov Protocol node?
Currently, no. Node operators are invite-only and must commit significant capital as
stake, ensuring high network integrity.
9. What if Proov Protocol stops working or goes offline?
-
You cannot place new bets until the protocol resumes or an alternative front-end is
used.
- You can withdraw your funds directly on-chain after your Play Timer expires.
- Your assets remain secure in your Solana Vault.
10. How do I know I’ll get paid if I win?
-
On-Chain Records: Every bet is written to Solana and requires
multi-signature approval.
-
Public Bankroll: The staked capital is visible, ensuring bets don’t
exceed available funds.
-
Multiple Signatures: All Oracles must validate the settlement, reducing
non-payment risk.
11. My bet is “Revealed” but not “Settled” yet. Why?
Proov Protocol batches settlements to reduce fees and maintain efficiency. Settlement
typically occurs within 5–15 minutes; however, in some cases it may take up to 24 hours.
12. How can I be sure my withdrawals are processed?
Withdrawals aren’t processed by a third party – you hold the keys to your Vault on Solana.
The blockchain itself enforces your withdrawal request.
13. Is Proov Protocol a casino?
No. Proov Protocol is a decentralized settlement and verification layer.
-
Does Not Operate Games: Game designs are provided by third-party
front-ends.
-
Does Not Take Custody: You retain control of your funds at all times.
-
Provides Fairness: Oracles handle bet verification, randomness
generation, and settlement.
14. How does Proov Protocol differ from other platforms?
- Full Self-Custody: Funds remain in your personal Solana Vault.
- On-Chain Transparency: Every transaction is publicly verifiable.
-
Decentralized Oracle Network: Multiple Oracles stake capital and sign
off on outcomes.
- Scalable: Built on Solana for low fees and high throughput.
-
No User Accounts: Your wallet is your identity—no registration or KYC
required.
- Not a Mixing Service: The on-chain audit trail is fully open.
15. Are my funds safe?
Yes. Proov Protocol’s smart contracts have undergone comprehensive audits, and your funds
remain controlled by your private keys. No one can move them without your explicit
transaction.
16. Can I withdraw Gems?
No. Gems are a discretionary rewards system maintained off-chain by front-end operators
and do not carry on-chain token value.
17. Can I create my own referral codes?
Referral or invite codes are managed by front-end partners and are generally invite-only.
Check Discord or community forums for more information.
18. My slot or game interface is frozen. Did I lose my bet?
- The bet result is determined by Proov Protocol Oracles and recorded on-chain.
-
Even if the front-end malfunctions, your bet remains locked in and verifiable via Solana
transactions.
- Contact the front-end operator or community support for UI issues.
19. How can I audit Proov Protocol?
-
On-Chain Transactions: All deposits, bets, and withdrawals appear on
the Solana ledger.
-
Open-Source Verification: Visit Proov.Network for tools to verify the
protocol in your browser.
-
IPFS Event Logs: Bet-related data is periodically published to
decentralized storage for immutability.
-
Advanced users can verify each step locally or integrate public verification tools.
Disclaimer: Proov Protocol provides only a decentralized verification and
settlement service. It does not host, endorse, or manage any specific gaming content. The
protocol is permissionless and global; however, users must comply with local laws and
regulations regarding online gambling or wagering. Proov Protocol disclaims any liability

Always do your own research and exercise caution. Understand the risks inherent in
blockchain-based games. Remember: you are in full control of your funds, so secure your
private keys and stay vigilant against phishing or malicious links.
